They were already snapped up prior to our visit.Located in the Belmont section of the Bronx, Arthur Avenue, also known as “Little Italy”, is famous for its traditional Italian-American atmosphere. Their famous stuffed peppers were on the menu that night but regular customers had already requested them over the phone. We also learned that you should ask about specials while making your reservation. We are looking forward to our next visit. The staff could not have been nicer - nice is the operative word! We felt as though we were regular customers. I am ashamed to say that we also had the buffalo mozzarella which was flown in on Friday from Italy. The sauce was light but packed with taste and the seafood was perfect - We also tried the baby calms and had to ask for more bread to soak up the broth. Because I am not running the marathon, I had the seafood pasta special which was fabulous. My husband had the lasagna and my son a pasta carbonara. It is a quaint place much like the type of small family owned spots you'll find off the beaten track in Italy. Looking to have a pasta meal for my two boys who are running the NYC Marathon today, I found just the perfect spot in the heart of Arthur Avenue neighborhood. The reviews on Tripadvisor did not fail us. Fortunately, she was not badly hurt, only frightened, as were we when it happened. As an aside, while we were there, a high-chair provided for a small child fell apart while the child was in it. Too bad, we are usually pleased with Trip Advisor recommendations and have traveled all over the world using them as one of our guides. For what we ate (small portions) and the level of service, it was high-priced and we would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. It was not crowded, so it was not like the waitresses were taxed in any way. The main dishes were just ok, and service was less than friendly. It was supposed to be for 6 people and could have possibly served 4, very disappointing. It was the most uninspired plate of some romaine leaves with 4 or 5 pieces of sopresata, a couple of peppers, olives and some hothouse tomatoes. We asked for a hot antipasto for the table and were told there was none, although we could order a cold one. The menu was basic but who cares if the food delivers. We met two other couples we hadn't seen in a while and looked forward to a delicious meal. neighborhood over time, we decided to try Tra Di Noi having heard good things about it. Having enjoyed several other restaurants in the Arthur Ave. Hope you try it, your not disappointed and if you are ignore my next post. Tra Di Noi 622 East 187th Street Bronx, NY 10458-6718 (718) 295-1784 Open Tue-Sun 12pm-9pm By the way you may have noticed I'm partial but I'm not a relative or friend of the family just a good customer. And best of all (well after the amazing food) is unlike Roberto's they take reservations. I almost hate to share it but if your reading this board you deserve it. Prices are reasonable for a restaurant of this calibre (by the way it's Michelin rated which is rare). Have been there at least 25 times in the last two years and not had a bad course let alone bad meal. The reason I say they're like the little engine that could is cause they are the best restaurant in the area, and one of the best in the city but they don't get the respect and the reviews. I've probably taken 15 people or so there over the last two years and so far they've all been home runs. The blackboard specials are always special but the small printed menu is great too. Marco has a masterful light touch (believe me when you rave about the salads something is going on). He only buys so much so at busy times things can run out. As good if not better, in my opinion, then Roberto's (which is a great place too) the food is always fresh (be prepared for them to run out of the specials on the blackboard) cause the chef shops the neighborhood every day for his menu. This restaurant is the little engine that could of Arthur Avenue (although it's on 187th st.).
